Robert Hyde

I started playing chess at the age of ten, and have played it ever since, always looking for more challenges and opportunities, and especially for fellow chess-smitten comrades, and those eager to learn.

As a longtime rated member of the USCF (United States Chess Federation), I’ve belonged to several clubs, including my stint as the president of the New Hope Chess Club (Pennsylvania). During the Bobby Fisher era, I was most active playing weekly and in tournaments, once playing against Bent Larsen (second-ranking player in the western world at that time) in a simultaneous exhibition.

I’ve learned all I could along the way, including taking instruction from Matthew Green, the New Jersey state champion.

Most importantly, I’ve been seeking interested folks since arriving in Farmville four years ago, and delighted to be given the opportunity to teach at Red Door 104. Chess is, after all, an art.

I look forward to teaching all ages, from beginning to advanced playing strategies, to both children and adults.
