Angela is originally from Arizona, but spent time in Texas and Washington DC before settling near Farmville, VA. She received her master’s degree in Behavioral Science - Marriage and Family Therapy- from the University of Houston Clear Lake in 2007. She has art therapy training both through her degree program and through later certifications, specifically, NeuroGraphica TM coaching and Paint From Your Soul TM group facilitation.

Throughout her counseling career, Angela has focused on helping clients use their creativity and imagination in helpful ways. She has incorporated drawing, painting, collage and mosaic into her therapeutic work and now offers reflective groups on a regular basis.

Her own artistic journey started with drawing an elephant with fingerpaint and it evolved from there. She has tried her hand at many different mediums including sewing, crochet, knitting, macrame, watercolor and acrylic painting and sculpting. She primarily makes art for her own mental health, letting art lead the process rather than starting with a particular image in mind.

Coaching/ Counseling Philosophy: Angela believes that we are all creative, even if just in the stories we tell ourselves. People who work with Angela often report that she helped them discover their internal stories, develop a more positive relationship with self and heal physically, spiritually and emotionally through self expression.

She is excited to be partnering with Red Door 104 to provide classes that use art for relaxation, problem solving and self-discovery.
