Using needle-felting techniques, master felter Annie Hyde will help you create a portrait of your pet’s lovable face from a pile of soft wool. Be sure to bring along a few pictures of your pet’s cute, cuddly face to use as reference images. The more angles the better!
The process of felting, whether wet or dry, involves enmeshing the individual wool filaments tightly and permanently together. Annie will begin by helping you create the 3D structure of your pet’s face using needle felting (dry) techniques. You will add all the details to make your pet uniquely yours, including glass eyes. Annie will then show you how to use the wet-felting technique to add the ears and other finishing touches.
Students will mount their portraits onto a 5” embroidery hoop to complete this beautiful artwork that your family will cherish.
No experience necessary! Please bring leather utility -type gloves if you have them. All other materials will be supplied.
For this workshop, we have allotted 3 hours. We understand that some of our artists work at different paces and we can add additional time if needed. Our goal is for you to leave happy with a finished product!
