Expressions in Color - Journaling and Card Making with Liquid Inks, Fountain Pens, Dip Pens, and Brushes.

This workshop will usher you into a land bursting with flowing, brilliant colors, and open a world of possibilities that only liquid inks can bring to the page. Annie Hyde will guide you every step of the way. You’ll first learn a variety of techniques, and then begin your masterpieces. The same principles we use in journaling applies to card making; in this workshop you’ll take home two beautiful 6×6 two-sided greeting style cards with your original art.

Ink lends itself beautifully to free-form and abstract expressions, which seem to naturally invite details as your picture develops personality. You can sample using calligraphy nibs though the class will focus on the distinctive, timeless, and expressive charm of fountain and dip pen writing. Participants will work organically with the picture evolving on the page rather than structured designs.

You will be using the tools of the trade, including heavyweight hot pressed watercolor paper, fountain pens, dip pens and brushes. Each participant will make two beautiful cards to take home, including envelopes.

Please wear your “paining clothes,” and sleeves that you can push up to save them from the spots. Aprons available!
