"Familiar With Farmville"

The first art competition of it’s kind in Farmville! We put out an open call to artists this summer with the following criteria:

The competition focuses on subject matter that highlights life in present day Farmville, VA. Only two-dimensional artwork in any medium can be used to dramatically portray the mood and vibrancy of the town’s people, places, or things. Artwork, whether the subject matter is of a building, particular street, a person or object transformed to an image, should represent your experience and/or perspective of the community. Our goal is to attract and show images created by artists inspired by their experience and contact with the community. We hope to attract entries from local and regional artists to help tell us about the Farmville they know.

The show is up, art work was judged by Mr. Jeffrey Allison from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, awarding a first and second prize as well as two honorable mentions. The Gallery reception will be held on Friday September 30th from 6-8pm. The pieces submitted can be found in our shop section.
